MERRY (LATE) CHRISTMAS: Chapter 14 RELEASED

Merry Christmas everyone. Yes, I know we are a few days late, but considering how busy Jackie has been we aren’t far off our mark. It’s been a while, and I’m sure you will be thrilled to see we have completed chapter 14.

In this chapter you are in for some excitement. New characters; plot twists, sudden dramatic decisions. Either way, please enjoy.

These past few weeks have been busy for Jackie and lazy for me. We have done some catching up and finally got back into midnight-sun mode by the end of it. I’m on holiday so I have a lot of free time, and have been working on drawings almost every day. Jackie is still up to her neck in her teaching, but at least she has a bit of time to relax now.

Please leave us comments (I know jackie loves it when she hears from you guys) It’s always encouraging when we see people are following us and getting involved. It makes the work seem just a little more worthwhile and we may be inspired to next chapter sooner.

Dear all,

Rest assured, even though I’m MIA, I’m actually doing work behind the scenes xD. Kinda… maybe… when I’m not procrastinating, or dressing up as Santa (beard and all) and surprising the heck out of my high school kids xD.

There are around 12 pages left? It shouldn’t take too much longer. No more than a week max, but most likely a couple of days.

In any case, I’m hoping that you’re all having a wonderful holiday season~ Lots of winter (or summer, depending on your hemisphere) fun!

Sort of a status update

Hello all! Unfortunately it doesn’t look like we will be getting this done by christmas, but we have made a little progress. 7 (or more) pages have been completely translated and by what I’ve cleaned up, its looking like a good chapter.

Hang on, let me say that’s 20% done.

Yes, that sounds way more impressive.

In other news, the new poll is looking dire with 63% of people smiling and nodding along without doing anything. 27% of readers laugh at our struggles as they cruise by on the reading end.

One person thinks they can help but I haven’t heard anything from them yet. I can do all the editing of pages in about 1 minutes each so we don’t really need too much extra manpower there. But who knows.

You may have seen other scanlation sites being very strict with tests and things if people want to join our team but we’re not going to be like that. I was thinking, if you want to help out at all don’t hesitate to contact us. We could do with a pro update writer even. If you think you can make these posts and news gorgeously compelling and well written feel welcome to contact us! Or for anything else that may concern you. We’ve sort of started.

Hey there everyone. I thought that I would bring you the good news and say we have sort of started on the next chapter. The bad news is that Jackie is really busy, so its going to be a slow one. I put the timer down for a month but since Jackie can only give a few hours a week we will only get a few pages done per week.

So bear with us, but I’m going to say it will hopefully be out around Christmas. If it is, then I guess that’s a good Christmas present from us to all of you who are following us.

Not official Stats, but here is what I can recall.

There are 34 pages. I’ve cleaned 8 and Jackie has translated… I think 2, not sure by now.

Still haven’t started :O =S

Hey guys!

Just checking in again. My wireless still isn’t set up, but I’m making due with a cord for now. It feels really nice to have internet access again xD. You won’t believe how many times I rewatched the anime and tv shows that are on my hard drive!

You can’t hear it, but as I type this, I’m sniffling like mad. I caught a cold and geez is it miserable trying to lead a bunch of high schoolers (granted, super awesome high schoolers) when you want nothing more than to crawl back home and stay in bed forever.

On a brighter note, I shamelessly begged my kids in the guise of a joke to give me some sushi (that they made in home economics today) in our class and one of the girls actually did! I love my students to death xD. They’re so sweet. I plan on sneaking her some jelly tomorrow as thank you. Shh. Don’t tell anyone.

I’ve yet to pick Midnight Sun back up, but I promise I’m not ditching it for good (unless someone else decides they want to adopt the project, and even then, I’d only okay it if Cae wanted to let go of it). I’m still kind of barely keeping up with marking and lesson planning  – and how crazy is it that I went from super NEET to a teacher in a foreign country?! Most days I don’t really believe it’s real haha – so it’s kinda hard to find the time to squeeze it in. I’m hoping to get into the habit of translating an hour or two over the weekends.

I haven’t heard from Cae lately, but I hesitate to bother C. because it’s exam period there if my shoddy memory isn’t failing me. And I have veeery little time to play with photoshop, so you may just get way below previous quality if that’s okay with you?

Eh. Haha. Months pass and I still blab like crazy. I’m going to pretend you missed it, to justify my rambling to myself xD.

It’s Jackie! <3 Am aliiiive and am struggling to set up internet

Hi everyone who has loyally (and incredibly) stuck by this blog! Not sure how many of you are still here but thank you for not giving up!

I’m alright – mostly xD. It’s been months (and boy, do I have a big beef with that) but I’m finally able to access internet on my computer. I’m in the middle of struggling with setting up the wireless (and gee do I have a big complaint about this too) but I’ll be back to semi-regular posts (not quite translations yet. Still lots of comp set up and marking and lesson planning to do for now) :D.

I’ve missed you guys, and I’ve missed our wonderful Cae hehe. Hope you’re all well!

Dear Reader-sama

Dear reader-sama, I am too much of a noob to translate anything, and Jackie is settled down but still had no internet.

She seems to be getting along well, and is teaching a large class. I am sure she will share more with you about her ventures when she gets time.

This is me updating the lot of you and reminding you I’m not dead. Just lazy. *Cough* I mean, incompetent. 

So, lets talk about chapter 14.

Our translator, Jackie, is moving/has moved to Japan, so we don’t know how long its going to be until we see her again. This means that Chapter 14 could potentially be delayed a while. However, I am learning more and more in regards to translating Japanese, and I was able to do 4 pages of the last chapter (not as well as jackie so she redid them) But what does this mean for you guys?

This means that if I try to translate the chapter, you’ll get to read midnight sun sooner. You’ll get updates. It will generally convey the jist of the story, it should be accurate enough to do that.

The downside? I’m not as good at Japanese as Jackie is. My translations are not as good. I will make mistakes, there may even be some background or difficult text I can’t make out.

As you may have noticed, I’ve put up a poll on the side bar asking n your opinions on if I should translate for you guys or not. So far a whopping majority has voted no, wanting me to give it a go, but not post it. However this is vastly discouraging for me. I don’t know about you, but I hate doing work and getting nothing for it. I’m not going to devote my time translating all of those pages if I don’t post it. 

So things are looking dire for the lot of you regarding chapter 14. Who knows when Jackie will return. However lets not make assumptions based on a poll alone. Leave comments here, tell me what you think about this, and well see where we stand.

Chapter 13 RELEASED

Hello everyone, it has been a long wait I know, but I am pleased to announce that chapter 13 is finally released.

Jackie is on her way to Japan and is ultra busy, so I am not sure when chapter 14 will be started, I’ll have to wait for contact from her. (Hopefully it will mean she will suddenly get more pro at japanese and be able to translate mega fast)

Status Update: Chapter 13

Oh my O.o I haven’t done one of these in… forever and a day xD.

So, not for the first time I lied >_>. Turns out “a few days” means “more than a few days”. But before you toss me off a cliff, I’d like to point out that I had thought p75 was the end of the chapter! I didn’t realize that I had an extra 5 pages that still need to be cleaned and translated… boo.

I’m actually taking a brief 5 min break from translation to type this up for you, but I’ll be headed back to photoshop in a sec.

Anyway, here are the numbers:

 

Status Update/Numbers:

Cleaning: 30/30 pages (100%) done.

Translating: 23/30 pages (76.6%) done.

 

I swear on my favourite mangas, webtoons, and fanfics, that Chapter 13 will be released before the 19th.
